punkin girls end of june 08

This last weekend three of my college girlfriends and I got together for a weekend get away!! We were planning a get away before we left back to Africa. Now that we are on the downward slope of leaving, it worked out for all of us to get together, which is no small task being from 4 different states, 4 husbands, 7 kids, and who knows what else to leave behind.

We spent the weekend at the Oregon coast and did a lot of walking, chatting, eating, and drinking tea or coffee!!

This weekend lead me to reflect on so many friendships I am privelaged to have. Now that we are 2 months away from departure, I am sooo anxious to get back to my Swazi girls. I am missing that deep rooted friendship, yet will miss my life long friends here.

People have been asking me a lot lately, "Are you excied to go back, . . . why?" It seems to be such a torn thing for me. I have a life in both places, two different circles. I will miss it here, our families are here, this is our home culture, everything at your fingertips (or at least not to far). Yet I enjoy the quality of life there, much slower pace of life, doing what we are supposed to be doing and the fullfillment in that. In the new testament when it talks about being aliens, I have a whole new appreciation and understanding of it. Some days are easier than others though.
